How To Prepare For A Major Storm...

You can fill your car with gas.

You can stock your refrigerator with food.

You can make sure you have shovels and salt.

You can stock up on books or movies or games.

You can take control by doing things to prepare.

But there are some storms you can't prepare for - no matter how hard you try.

The death of a child is one of those storms.

And then, you're left with a choice...

Should you let the storm bury you alongside them?  Should you decide to run away to a new place that looks "storm free?"  Should you stay locked inside as a way to shield yourself from the unpredictable sky?

You can never prepare yourself for the storms that the universe sends your way.  But in the end, the clean up is more important than the preparation.  How you handle the clean up after a major storm can change the course of the rest of your life.

And the beautiful thing is... it's never too late to decide to clean up.

That's what's on my mind tonight as we await yet another major snowstorm.

We're as prepared as we're going to be... and at peace.

  3. Kate - beautiful post. And much needed words in my life. Thank you for sharing them. Life's storms (no matter what they are) can throw us for a loop. And I feel I have been in a very bad loop for a long while. I need to do a good "cleaning up" after the storms I've weathered. Thank you for that reminder. Blessings. <3
