Yesterday I had some special time with Gavin, which we both really enjoyed.
Today - Brian's turn! After my three boys let me sleep in, my little monkey and I went to the movies! I took Brian to see Chimpanzee. I made sure to show him the trailer ahead of time - and when he asked to see it over and over I took that as a good sign. I was prepared to walk out if he got bored, though, as the movie is essentially a documentary. There's nothing animated at all! But Brian more than shocked me.
He sat still in his own seat - holding, but not even eating, the bag of fruit chews I gave him. Thank God we were in the theater with only one other family, because Brian talked through the whole movie. He followed the plot - asked questions - knew when the chimpanzees were in trouble... he amazed me.
Here's just a small example of his chattiness!
Brian and I give this Disney movie FOUR thumbs up! He's still talking about it!
When we left the movie, Brian asked where Daddy and Gavin were. When I said they were at home, he said "We go get them!" So we did! We picked them up and headed to a nearby farm for ice cream!
Gavin wasn't interested in ice cream (too cold!) - but he loved my whipped cream...
And just so you know, Brian takes his ice cream eating very seriously. He does NOT like to be interrupted for a photo opportunity.
The farm has a little area with goats, chickens and bunnies - and a little machine that dispenses food pellets.
Both of the boys had fun feeding the goats - even Gavin!!
OMG - LOOK! It's ME!!! In a photo!!!
It is alive.
Brian was a riot, but I always get a kick out of watching Gavin enjoy his brother's happiness. He's such a sweet boy!!
It has been a great Mother's Day Weekend so far. And it's only going to get better! Ed had the BRILLIANT idea to head to our favorite place tomorrow for a day trip. We're taking the boys to the boardwalk in Ocean City, New Jersey! They love the rides - and the beach - and it's supposed to be a very warm and sunny day.
I love my little family.

Mother's Day tribute week continues with another story about my Mom. When I was a little girl, she would sit on the side of my bed and tell me stories at night. I always requested stories about "Katrina", which became a bit of a nickname for me. My Mom was a smart woman - she would tell me stories about Katrina's day...and it always mirrored mine. I'd say "I did that, too!" or "I like that, too!" I definitely use this already...and plan to keep telling stories that encourage communication from my children.
I love my Mom.
Brian and Gavin may have enjoyed the goats...but I was getting a bigger kick out of Ed enjoying feeding the goats. The kids are going to love these videos when they get older. Have a great time today Kate.
