This is Five...

Brian turned FIVE today!!

What a difference a year makes...

...and what a year Brian has had.

I wrote last year on his birthday that Brian has been a "spirit lifter" from day one.

That hasn't changed!!  The past eight months since Gavin died have proved it once again.  His positive spirit has seen him through some sad days - and has seen us through our grief.  

Brian's always had an infectious smile and a totally contagious laugh!!

He's been through so much this year.  A new school - the death of his brother - the loss of seeing Miss Sara at the house on a daily basis - his Mother's pregnancy - and the birth of his sister.  That's a lot for an adult, let alone a four year old child!!  But he has handled it all so well...and we are so, very proud of him.

I'm interviewing Brian right now for these answers:

Right now, Brian is really REALLY into Star Wars, Angry Birds and wooden building blocks.  His favorite food is "junk."

His favorite movie is Rio.  Favorite song?  Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.  And every time Hope cries, he breaks into the sweetest version of it to soothe her.

I think he's going to rock year five.

Brian celebrated his birthday in school today!  I made, by request, Star Wars cupcakes - of course.

Brian enjoys sharing his favorite things with his friends on his birthday.  So today, Hope and I brought an Angry Birds Star Wars plush toy for each of his ten classmates.  Wrapped in Star Wars paper, of course!!  The girls all got a Princess Leia doll...

...and the boys got Darth Vader or Storm Troopers.  And Brian got a new bird, too!  A C3-PO!  He loved handing out the presents to each of his friends.

He had a little playdate with his friend, Daniel in the afternoon.  And a trip to Arnold's Family Fun Center with Daddy when he got home from work!

It was a great day for our little monkey.  And a fun start to what I know will be a wonderful year for him...filled with lots of memory making times with his family.
