A lot can happen in a year.
We lost a child. We gained a child.
A bond was broken. A bond is forming.
I'm struggling with March. Once March is over - we'll be in April. And once we're in April it will be a year. A year since I saw him... held him... sang to him... begged him not to go.
But he had to go. And no amount of singing could beckon him back.
I watch Brian and Hope together and sometimes it seems like they've been at this forever. The way he looks at her - the way she studies him. It's effortless.
Hope is growing and getting sweeter every day. She is now fourteen weeks old.
We weren't expecting her. It really feels like she was delivered to us right from Heaven.
Not to take the place of Gavin. Not even to help our hearts to heal.
I think that Hope was sent to us - with her adorable personality...
...and her curiosity...
...and her determination... for a bigger reason.
Hope has something bigger to teach us.
The first lesson? There is always hope. And sometimes it comes in the most unexpected way.
