From The Kitchen Of...

I made it. It's almost 11pm and I'm just sitting down to write this. It's been such a busy day!! Let's recap, shall we?

Curious how much six whole rotisserie chickens make when pureed?

They make this many. Half I pureed with applesauce...the other with pineapple. A little Hawaiian flavor for Gavin.

Ever wonder how ten pounds of red skinned potatoes, ten pounds of yellow and green squash, four pounds of peas and four pounds of corn look all pureed together? They go from this (with three sticks of butter melted in!)...
...to this...
Making food for Gavin in bulk like this is the only way to go. I won't have to make veggies or chicken for a few months - this will all go in the freezer and we take it out as needed. Highly recommend making your own food - it's worth it in every way!

We also spent much of our day "shopping". It's possible...we're still thinking about it, but possible...that we may get a new car. We have a Honda Odyssey that is two years old. Our Honda dealer is having a great incentive to trade in our used Honda for a 2011 one. Because of the earthquakes in Japan, they need more used cars in their inventory. The new Honda is slightly bigger, but looks smaller...and it can fit three car seats across the second row, which is a big plus to us. We're banking on that third child, as you can tell. They're giving us a good deal, but Ed is still playing hardball - so, we'll see. He's pretty good at negotiating. In the meantime, if anyone out there has the 2011 Odyssey - and especially if you have tried the three car seats across one row - we would LOVE to hear your reviews!!

We came home and had some dinner. Ed grilled cheeseburgers for everyone. That's right - everyone!! Ever wonder what a pureed cheeseburger with veggies looks like?
It was Gavin's very first and he LOVED it. I even stirred in some ketchup, if you can believe that. And Brian liked it, too, although he liked the bun more...

Later we ended up at the furniture store again! This time we made a decision and purchased a new bedroom set for Brian. We're very excited!!

Here is Ed measuring the full size bed...
And here's the dresser...
And the nightstand...
We found it at a furniture clearance center near us. There you can buy the floor models or, if they have it in stock, you can have it new. We are able to get all the pieces new - and now we just need to rent or borrow a truck so we can pick it up this Wednesday!! The reason it was at the clearance center is because it is "last year's model". Somehow I don't think Brian, as particular as he can be, will really care that he's sleeping in "last year's bed".

Brian was bouncing off the walls at the furniture store. Gavin? Gavin expressed exactly what I was feeling after this very long - very productive day...
I'm off to bed myself. There won't be a blog tomorrow. I'll be taking the day off to do a whole lot of nothing except play with my boys! If I come up with something enchanting (which is doubtful, let's face it) you'll be the first to know...

  1. Your picture of pureed cheeseburger took me down memory lane to my first year teaching chemistry...one day I let students bring food to eat in class as long as a) they brought enough for everyone, and b) they could find a way to test the pH of it. Two boys brought sliders for the whole class, pureed one in a blender (looked exactly like Gavin's cheeseburger as I remember) and we found it to be pH 4! That was pretty funny, at that time it was, at least LOL. Thanks!
